How to Create a BOM

Manufacturing Module

This module allows the user to create a Bill of materials for an item that is composed of multiple items. Examples would be for manufacturing candles, cookie dough, or prize packs. A bill of materials is created listing the item and quantity that is needed to manufacture a product.

An item would be set up in the item master and designated as a kit.

After the Kitted Item box is flagged the user will be able to click on the BOM button to create a Bill of materials for that new kit.

A BOM (Bill of materials) would then be set up listing all the materials that went into the manufacture of the item. This could also be referred to as a receipt or list of ingredients.

The BOM would include the part number and quantity for each item that goes into the production of the kitted item. If the manufacture of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was done, the BOM would include the tub, lid, sugar, flour, salt, baking powder, chocolate chips...

Below is a screen shot of the Bill of Materials Screen and the BOM Ticket used to pull the products needed for production.

When the manufacturing of the product is complete it is received into inventory on the GiftTracker Transactions Screen.

On the Transactions Screen you will need to enter in the Item number for the Kit and then enter the number of kits that were made. This will deduct the inventory from all the products that were set up in the bill of materials and Add to the inventory of the kitted item. We call this Back Flushing.

Now in GiftTracker the kitted item will be sold and tracked. So when the kitted item is packed the inventory will be reduced.
